Double Delight with Britney Spears

Britney Jean Spears is a Grammy Award-winning American pop singer and entertainer. Raised in Kentwood, Louisiana, Spears first appeared on national television in 1992 as a contestant on the Star Search program, and went on to star in Disney Channel's television series The New Mickey Mouse Club from 1993 to 1994. In 1997, Spears signed a recording contract with Jive, releasing her debut album ...Baby One More Time in 1999. The album established her as a pop icon and "bona fide pop phenomenon", credited for influencing the revival of teen pop in the late 1990s. Spears released her sixth studio album Circus on her 27th birthday in December 2008. Spears is ranked as the eighth best-selling female recording artist in the United States with 32 million sold albums certified by the Recording Industry Association of America and one of the world's best-selling music artists having sold an estimated 85 million records worldwide. Spears also holds the title to multiple Guinness World Records. Thursday, November 27, 2008
Britney Spears back on top
Britney shows off her toned physique in hot pants and a transparent top as she takes to the stage at 2008 Bambi Awards in Offenbug, GermanyThe pop star showed off her slimmed-down body in hot pants, fishnet tights and a transparent black top at the 2008 Bambi Awards in Offenburg.
Spears – who releases her sixth album Circus next week – showed that she was back to her best as she strutted around seductively on stage and writhed around a large metallic circular cage.
Earlier today the singer’s mother Lynne Spears said that the 26-year-old had finally turned her life around after her much publicised breakdown and was now ready to return to the pop game.
'We’re going to get this done and it’s all going to be good. You just wait and see.' she told Lorraine Kelly on GMTV
Britney will perform her new single Womanizer on X Factor this weekend marking her first performance on British TV screens in 5 yearsShe said even now she found it hard to understand the level of her daughter's fame.
'My friends and I, we talk about it and they go, "What is the deal? I mean, what’s so interesting about Britney?" And people that have known us all our lives are mystified – they go, "What is the deal?"'
Her upcoming appearance on X Factor will mark a reunion for Spears and her former choreographer Brian Friedman as well as her first performance on British TV screens in five years. He said: 'She is such a sweet, endearing person. It will be nice to reconnect.
'Last year, I asked her to come and do X Factor but she was too hectic. This year it's happening. I'm so glad to see her back on track. Her performance is going to be incredible.'
X Factor judge Simon Cowell is looking forward to Spears' performance, having often commented on the singer over the years.
In January this year, when Spears was hospitalised for psychiatric evaluation, he said: 'She's welcome to call me any time.
'I genuinely think that if I sat down with Britney and, No. 1, remind her of all the good things in her life - which are her kids, her money, her success, everything - I'd try to give her a sense of perspective. And then I'd take her out of where she's living at the moment and ask her to go and live with her family - and live normally - for six months.'
Cowell is glad to see Spears - who has two children, Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden
James, 2, with ex-husband Kevin Federline - making a comeback after previously revealing his fears that her career was over following her disastrous performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last year.
He said at the time: 'If I had been looking after Britney I’d have taken one look at her in rehearsals and I wouldn’t have allowed her on stage.
'It would have been worth pulling her off the bill - no matter what the cost - to save any chance she had of resurrecting her career. She wasn’t ready for that show in every possible way.
'The problem she has now is that she could have killed her career. It’s difficult to come back from that performance, for a while at least.'
After a difficult few years, during which she went through a divorce and was hospitalised twice for psychiatric evaluation, Spears is now looking better than she has in years.
Since dealing with her problems with the help of her father Jamie and mother Lynne, Spears has been focusing her energies of getting her career back on track.
She picked up three awards at the MTV Video Music Awards in September for her single Piece Of Me, and continued her success at the MTV Europe Music Awards last week with two trophies - even though she was unable to attend the Liverpool ceremony.
Earlier this month, Spears wowed fans when she joined Madonna on stage during the Material Girl's Los Angeles gig.
Her sixth studio album Circus is set for release on December 2 - her 27th birthday.

Britney's back! ...She scoops three MTV Video Music Awards
Comeback queen: Britney Spears accepts her award at the MTV Video Music Awardsfor best female video for her track Piece of MeA year after her disastrous comeback attempt at the MTV Video Music Awards, Britney Spears swept the event on Sunday, winning the first three Moonman statuettes of her career.
The pop singer, whose career has been overshadowed in recent years by a litany of personal woes, took home the awards for video of the year, best pop video and best female video, all for the track Piece of Me.
'Wow, thank you, I'm in shock right now. I was not expecting this,' she said at the end of the night as she accepted the shiny Moonman statue for video of the year.
'This is such an honor to have this award right now.'
Spears gave similar speeches with her previous two prizes - best female video and best pop video - politely thanking God, her children and her record label before quickly leaving the stage.Despite weeks of speculation, Spears did not perform, instead opening the show by delivering just four sentences.
She said: 'Thank you so much. Thank you for all the love. I'm here tonight to celebrate a very important birthday, the 25th anniversary of the VMAs. This is the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and it starts right now.'
She earned a few laughs during a pre-taped comedic segment with Superbad actor Jonah Hill, in which he repeatedly tried to trick her into kissing him.
The crowd was behind her from the start, with several stars offering their support on the red carpet.
'I've always been a Britney Spears fan,' said Ne-Yo. 'I really want her to get out there and shut everyone's mouth.''As far as Britney, she can do what she wants and still be the queen of all this,' said T-Pain, who arrived at the ceremony on an elephant.
And Paris Hilton, her one-time party companion, presented Spears with the award for best pop video, telling her afterward: 'I love you. I miss you. And it's so good to see you.'
Wearing a glittering silver dress that hugged her curves and her hair in soft blonde waves, she later posed for photos with her three trophies in the press room but did not answer questions from reporters.
Accompanied by her longtime manager Larry Rudolph, Spears chewed gum and grinned and kept her eyes straight ahead.
Other winners included R&B singer Chris Brown's With You for best male video, Linkin Park's Shadow of the Day for best rock video, and rapper Lil Wayne's Lollipop for best hip-hop video.
