Uma Thurman: alerted police and installed surveillance cameras
In telephone calls to Miss Thurman's mother and brother, and at least 19 emails to her father, Jack Jordan said he believed he and the Hollywood actress had met in a previous life and would never be happy unless they were together.Jordan, 37, who is accused of stalking and aggravated harassment, spent hours loitering on the steps of Miss Thurman's Manhattan home and once managed to visit her trailer on a film set, the New York court heard.
Jack Jordan: 'obsessive' (Reuters)
Dr Robert Thurman, an academic at Columbia University, told the court that his daughter, a star of Pulp Fiction and The Producers, had been alarmed by Jordan.
He said she had been particularly concerned for the safety of her two young children.
Jordan denies the charges, which carry up to a year in prison. His lawyer claimed Jordan thought he was being romantic, adding that he was "creepy" and "obsessive" but not criminal.
Miss Thurman's mother, Nena, told the court that Jordan called her home in Woodstock, New York state.
"He told me in so many words that he and my daughter had known one another in a previous life and were destined to be together, that he knew this, but she didn't know it."
She added that when she tried to tell him that he was indulging in a fantasy and that her daughter had no interest in him, Jordan threatened to kill himself.
Miss Thurman, 38, called the police but also hired a private detective and installed surveillance cameras around the house.
The case continues.
